How to add yourself to the Candidate Information Table:

1A) Below you will find the Information Template. Highlight and copy the entire template from "First Name" to the final vertical line to the right of "LW."

First Name | Last Name | Sex | Phone Number | Email | City | Zip | County | SD | CD | PC | IR | UH | PF | EP | LW |

1B) Open a text editing program or word processor and paste the Information Template into the program.

1C) Starting with "First Name," replace the text provided with your appropriate information. Be sure to retain the vertical lines. There should be one after each section.

1D) Only provide your phone number and/or e-mail address if you are okay with others contacting you. If you choose not to share this information please replace the relevant text with "N/A."

1E) "SD" and "CD" refer to your State Senatorial and Congressional District, respectively. Please include the district number of each.

1F) The spaces "PC" through "LW" refer to the following questions. Please place a "Y" for Yes and an "N" for No with respect to:

PC: Will you join the Progressive Caucus of the California Democratic Party if elected?

IR: Do you support the immediate commencement of withdrawal of American troops from Iraq?

UH: Do you support universal, single-payer health care?

PF: Do you support publically financed elections?

EP: Do you support election protection efforts to count every vote as cast?

LW: Do you support a living wage?

EXAMPLE 1:

Suppose Jane Doe lives in AD81, SD41, CD54 (there are no such districts, but bear with me). She would begin with:

First Name | Last Name | Sex | Phone Number | Email | City | Zip | County | SD | CD | PC | IR | UH | PF | EP | LW |

And end up with something looking like this:

Jane | Doe | Female | 555-555-5555 | Jane.doe(at)yahoo(dot)com | Anonymityville | 55555 | Mysteriousa | 41 | 54 | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y | Y |

2A) Next, ensuring that you are on the page for your Assembly District, click the "Edit page" button at the top or bottom of this page. You will notice the appearance of the website will change and it will look more like a text-editing program.

2C) Scroll down to the Candidate Table and copy and paste the results of steps 1A-1F into an unused row, leaving the row number and candidate code unchanged. Make sure you paste the text to the right of the vertical bar after the candidate code.

2D) Press "Preview" and see whether your information appears correctly in the Candidate Table. If so, press "Save." If not, press cancel and repeat steps 2A-2D. If you run into any problems that you cannot solve, please e-mail us at 80ad at googlegroups dot com.

EXAMPLE 2:

For example, if Jane Doe were the first to provide her information in AD81 (she'd be the only candidate since it doesn't exist after all), she would have changed the Candidate Table from looking like this:

#Candidate CodeFirst NameLast NameSexPhone NumberEmailCityZipCountySDCDPCIRUHPFEPLW
01AD81_1
02AD81_2
03AD81_3

...

To this:

#Candidate CodeFirst NameLast NameSexPhone NumberEmailCityZipCountySDCDPCIRUHPFEPLW
01AD81_1 Jane Doe Female 555-555-5555 Jane.doe(at)yahoo(dot)com Anonymityville 55555 Mysteriousa 41 54 Y Y Y Y Y Y
